At the age of 20-21, I took the plunge into the business world. While working a regular job and earning a steady income, I ventured into a side business by franchising an affordable food cart. However, it didn't work out as planned due to the lack of a proper system. The franchise provided all the necessary materials but didn't teach me the daily operations, marketing strategies, and other essential aspects. It was a learning experience for me, and although it didn't succeed, I have no regrets. I understood that business involves risks, but I was still figuring out how to calculate and mitigate them at that young age.
Fast forward to when I turned 26. After five years of gaining insights and learning from my previous business endeavors, I decided to start my second business. Between the ages of 21-25, my focus was more on travel and buying gadgets, which resulted in excessive spending. But as I approached my mid-twenties, I set a goal for myself: to own a car by the time I turned 25. The daily commute via public transportation had become tiresome, and I was a frequent passenger on the LRT. By the time I reached 25, I had started saving diligently. I had a day job and also took on freelance projects, which significantly increased my income. My current job salary alone wasn't enough for me to save substantially. Besides, I wasn't particularly keen on excelling in a traditional career path. It's important to note that some jobs do offer high salaries, even reaching six digits or more, depending on the value you bring to the company.
To be honest, I never really had a dream job in mind. The mundane routine of punching in and out each day bored me to no end. I began to envision a future where I wouldn't rely on a job and solely depend on my side hustles, as those gigs weren't always guaranteed or permanent. So, I made the bold decision to search for a franchise business opportunity, with the intention of quitting my job this time around. People often say that being physically present in your business ensures better focus and attention to detail.
After careful consideration, I stumbled upon a salon franchise with a reasonable investment price and a bustling location. Luck seemed to be on my side when I secured a bustling location that had previously housed a popular salon. Now, it's just a matter of making a few renovations to get things up and running.
